you can read about in this article
People are constantly looking for the next best thing when it comes to taking care of their hair. Most people don’t realize that they are only a few steps away from softer, healthier hair. Take a look at four recipes that you can make from ingredients in your kitchen and let us know just how much your hair is thanking you!
Olive Oil mask:
Olive oil is great for strengthening your hair and enhancing its health. The recipe is simple! You’ll need:
- ½ cup of olive oil.
- ½ cup of warm water
- ½ cup of aloe vera gel
- 2-3 drops of coconut milk
Mix all the ingredients until smooth and then massage into hair. Start about two inches from your scalp and work your way through the shafts of your hair. Leave the mixture on for at least an hour. You can even put your hair in a bun, throw on a shower cap and sleep through the night. It might require two good rinses when you are ready to take the mixture out of your hair, but you will be left with softer, healthier hair! The best part, you only have to do this mask one or twice a month and you’ll be on your way to better hair!
Not only is avocado great for your body as it provides you with natural fats, but it is also great for your hair. Here is the recipe!
- Two Egg whites
- ½ of an avocado
Combine the two egg whites with the avocado until you have a fairly smooth mixture. Apply to your hair for 15 minutes and then rinse it out. It will leave your hair feeling super smooth!
Egg Yolk Mask:
When you think of eggs, you might not think to use them for anything besides cooking but eggs contain lecithin and protein that can help strengthen and moisturize your hair. This mask will make your hair softer than ever and can prevent future breakage from the protein in the yolk.
- Two – five egg yolks whipped until smooth
Depending on the length of your hair, the amount of egg yolks you use will vary. If your hair is shoulder length or shorter, two yolks will be just fine. Apply the mixture to dry, brushed hair and leave in for up to 30 minutes. Then shampoo and condition as normal!
My last tip: coconut oil. While I was at the beach this summer, I made sure to put it in my before I spent the day under the sun. It protects against water damage and also helps eliminate future breakage. You can buy this at your local Whole Foods or most grocery stores. Just apply from your scalp to the end of your hair follicles for the ultimate protection.
So the next time you are thinking about buying a mask to boost your hair, just look around your kitchen and see what supplies you might have. You never know what is just laying around, longing to be used!
